About Us Comptoir des ecritures was born in the calligraphic crucible that was Toulouse (South of France) in the seventies; it draws its knowledge and its sense of perfection from spending time with famous masters. Purchasing and producing are made at the very source of each product all over the world, thus giving all garantees of technical knowledge and the best possible prices. Gathering more than 2 000 items of let's say Japanese, American or Ottoman origin never happened before. Since 1999 the online shopping service offers all these rarities and riches to everybody everywhere under the now enlarged name of The Great Calligraphy Catalogue.
Making A Purchase Making a purchase could not be easier. Just browse our store, and add any items that you wish to buy into the shopping cart. After you have finished your selection, click on 'Order' to check out and you will be asked for a few details that we need to be able to complete the order.

Prices on this web site are only applicable for orders entered through the online system. We accept Visa and Mastercard payment (128-bit SSL encryption), as well as PayPal. If you are shopping from outside EU, place your order in euros and your credit card company will convert the transaction to your own currency.

We do not charge for any item until it is ready to ship. Backordered items are shipped at no further cost.

When confirmation of order is received, this is to indicate that we have received your order. As the credit card is not debited at that time, it does not indicate that a contract exists between us. We will indicate acceptance of your order, and hence a contract between us, when we send you an invoice.
Shipping And Handling We usually ship through the French postal administration using their registered Priority service. This cost is added when you checkout, depending on the actual weight and destination.
Delivery Schedule We deliver your order right away, on the famous "first come first served" basis. We will normally send your order to you within 7 business days . There is usually no shipping on Saturdays nor Mondays. International orders take generally 7 to 15 days after shipping, according to each country. August deliveries may be slower.
Back Orders If your item is not in stock, we will back order for you. You will always be emailed with the option to cancel your order if you would rather not wait.
Tax Charges For orders to France or the European Union, 19.60 % VAT is included (5.50 % for books). All other orders will appear VAT free when checking out.
Credit Card Security When the order is placed on our website, credit card numbers are encrypted using 128 bit encryption. They can only be read after they reach our computer then erased after the credit card debit is confirmed. They can't be seen in clear text anywhere on the web. This encryption is made by a Java applet. In case your computer needs java, it can be dowloaded freely and easily at http://java.com/fr/download/index.jsp Unfortunately this system seems not to work under Mozilla Firefox anymore but only Internet Explorer. Anyway PayPal is also available.

Nevertheless most os the products in this catalogue are handmade in countries where industrial norms are rarely known and all details of size, weight, colours etc. are given without responsibility. Privacy Policy Comptoir des écritures do not disclose buyers' information to third parties other than when order details are processed as part of the order fulfilment. In this case, the third party will not disclose any of the details to any other third party. Returns Policy According to new European mailorder rules, the buyer may change his mind wthin seven days after reception of the order. In this case, and a written agreement of the seller being necessary beforehand, the order may be returned at the cost and risks of the buyer. If the goods can be put back to sales without problem, the order will be paid back within 30 days.
